On Saturday August 13, at the microphone of Europe 1, the singer and model returned to this evening in November 2007, where she met her future husband, between reluctance and love at first sight.
They met in 2007, got married a year later and have loved each other ever since. However, apart from the few 10 centimeters that separate them, nothing predestined Carla Bruni and Nicolas Sarkozy to be united for life. This was confirmed by the main stakeholder on Saturday August 13 on Europe 1’s ‘There’s Only One Life’ programme. The singer and top model returned to her first meeting with the (not obvious) politician and former president of the republic.
One evening in November 2007, publicist Jacques Seguela invited Carla Bruni to dinner at his home in Marnes-la-Coquette. But this one is accompanied by Nicolas Sarkozy. “Dinner with this right-wing president?” Never!” exclaims the model to her friend. Back in Europe 1, he explains that he eventually accepted… reluctantly. And yet, despite the reluctance and prejudice, the singer admitted that she “felt the effects of things that evening.”

“I had to wait”
Having talked with her in the evening, not worrying about the rest of the guests, the singer expects a phone call, which does not arrive. Carla Bruni explains that she was “disappointed” not to hear from him, telling herself that the chemistry wasn’t mutual. “Maybe I was hoping for something. We had to see, we had to wait,” he says. Not so long to wait, because the next day the latter will receive a phone call. “He still called me back the next day at 4pm. I still want him. He’s still paying.” – he joked.
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
Last July, the former President of the Republic and his wife were very complicit on the set of France 3’s Grand Échiquier. Nicolas Sarkozy told an anecdote about his relationship with Carla Bruni, recasting it as a true declaration of love. “I remember Carla’s first official trip, we slept in Windsor. We arrived at the entrance to this little town, the Queen was waiting for us, there was an all-white carriage pulled by eight white horses, which I rode alongside Elizabeth II,” he said.
And continue. “Carla was in an all-black carriage with the Duke of Edinburgh drawn by eight black horses. When he came down, my heart was pounding, first with emotion, then with pride. Her little hat on her head, I told myself Breakfast at Tiffany’s”and when she begins, I would marry her a second time.’
