The threat of radiation around the situation at Zaporozhye NPP has not been observed yet, but the situation can change significantly at any moment.
An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council has begun on the situation around the ZNPP. The broadcast on Thursday, August 11, will be available on the UN’s official YouTube channel.
At the meeting of the UN Security Council, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, called on Ukraine and Russia to allow representatives of the organization to visit the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant as soon as possible and expressed his readiness to lead such a mission.
Grossi added that at Zaporozhye NPP “the situation can change at any moment.”
“According to the latest information, our assessment is as follows: there is no immediate threat to nuclear security as a result of fracking, but this could change at any moment,” said Grossi.
At the same time, he noted that all military actions that could affect the station’s nuclear safety must be stopped immediately.
In this regard, China’s permanent representative to the UN, Zhang Jun, called on Russia and Ukraine to sit at the negotiating table.
It will be remembered that today, August 11, the Russian invaders fired again at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. Five “arrivals” were recorded in the area of the station commandant’s office – next to the welding site and the storage of radiation sources.
Conquerors take ZNPP regularly. The last time a nuclear power plant employee was injured.
Last week, the commander of the Russian garrison at the ZNPP announced that it was a mine and was ready to detonate it.
