Sweden, Finland failed to comply with NATO requirements – Turkish Foreign Ministry

The two countries have yet to fulfill agreements on the extradition of “Kurdish terrorists” to Turkey.

Turkey said they do not see specific actions from Finland and Sweden, which are necessary for Ankara to approve their applications to NATO, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, Daily Sabah reports.

According to him, Sweden and Finland have not fulfilled the agreements on the extradition of “Kurdish terrorists” to Turkey.

He also added that Stockholm and Helsinki have offered Ankara to hold a meeting on this issue in August.

“We hope that our first meeting will take place on August 26,” the minister said.

It will be recalled that on June 28 in Madrid, Turkey agreed to support the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO. And the next day it became known that Ankara asked these countries to extradite 33 “terrorists” – 12 people from Finland and 21 from Sweden.
