Romania is running a national campaign to distribute potassium iodide to the population.
Romania has donated more than a million tablets of potassium iodide to Moldova in case of a nuclear threat. At the same time, they assure Chisinau that there is no radiation risk in the country today. On Tuesday, August 9, according to Newsmaker.
“The Ministry of Health has ensured the availability of potassium iodide in the country. The National Public Health Agency will distribute the drug to its departments,” Moldova’s Ministry of Health said.
At the same time, the ministry appealed to the population and assured that there is no danger.
“We encourage the population to remain calm,” the department added.
It should be noted that Romania is conducting a national campaign to distribute potassium iodide to the population. At the same time, experts note that the drug should not be taken by people over 40 years old, because they are not susceptible to treatment with potassium iodide.
Recall that in the event of an accident at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant (NPP), the regional authorities will be forced to evacuate the population within a radius of 50 kilometers around the station.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian invaders had mined the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and threatened to undermine it.
It is known that Moldova will turn to Romania for help if the conflict in Ukraine spreads to its territory, and relations with the Russian Federation deteriorate.
