Diplomats of the European Union drafted the final text of the nuclear agreement with Iran and believe that now the parties must make a final decision.
The European Union has put forward a final text proposal for the renewal of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal. This was told to reporters on Monday by a senior EU official, Reuters wrote.
“Today we are bringing for discussion a text that is the final text,” a senior EU official told reporters at a briefing as four days of talks to revive the deal ended in Vienna.
In March, Western countries came close to renewing a 2015 deal with Iran, but the talks were derailed in part by a dispute over whether the United States should remove Iran’s Revolutionary Guards from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs).
At the end of June, the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, arrived in Iran for negotiations.
The talks in Vienna aim to bring the United States back into the nuclear deal, including lifting sanctions on Iran, and to ensure that Tehran fully fulfills its obligations.
The United States unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018 under former President Donald Trump before imposing harsh sanctions on the country.
It was previously reported that Iran has the technical capabilities to develop an atomic bomb, but does not intend to do so.
