In the Poltava region, rescuers pulled a one and a half year old girl out of a sewer.
The incident took place in the village of Semyonovka. This was announced today, August 7, by the press service of the State Emergency Service.
It is noted that in the center of this village, near the trade pavilions, the child fell into a sewer pit, covered with a concrete slab.
Due to heavy rain, the ground next to the sewer was washed away, a small hole formed, where water flowed, into which the child fell when he ran past.
Citizens were able to dig a hole wider and lowered a shovel handle into the pit, the child grabbed it and held on until the State Emergency Service fighters arrived, the message says.
Arriving at the scene of the incident, the rescuers dragged away the concrete slab, then with the help of a rope descended into the sewer (about 2 m deep) and pulled the child out.
Currently, the rescued girl, along with her mother, is in a hospital. All the circumstances of this event are being established by representatives of the National Police, the State Emergency Service notes.
