Russia has enough resources to fight before the end of the year, but social unrest in Russian society could have prevented it.
Bellingcat lead investigator Hristo Grozev believes Russia has enough resources to continue the war until the end of the year. He said this on Saturday, April 9, in a BBC interview.
Answering a question about the timing of the resumption of fighting, he divided the forecast into military and political parts. In the first case, Grozev said, the Russian Federation could extend the war only to the south and east of Ukraine. But this requires the mobilization and the involvement of 150-200 thousand conscripts or contract soldiers in the war. “All of this will lead to political concussions,” he added.
From a military perspective, the war, in his opinion, could continue until the end of the year.
As for the political side, Grozev predicts the imminent disclosure of the number of military casualties in the Russian Federation, which will provoke a crisis in society. After that, according to Grozev, the Kremlin will no longer replenish its resources for the war. The investigator believes it should happen within a month.
At the same time, he considers a new Russian offensive against Kyiv unlikely.
