The European Union has ensured that the supply of weapons will be adapted to Ukraine’s needs. Additional sanctions against Russia are also being made.
European Union diplomacy chief Josep Borrell said the war with Russia would be won on the battlefield. On Saturday, April 9, he wrote about it on Twitter.
“This war will be won on the battlefield. An additional 500 million euros from the EU is underway. Arms supplies will be adapted to Ukraine’s needs,” Borrell said.
According to him, Russia’s brutal attack on defenseless people in Kramatorsk once again shows the Kremlin’s complete disrespect for human life.
“It will only increase our support for Ukraine,” Borrell wrote.
He also stressed that the EU needs to continue to increase pressure on Russia.
“We are already imposing large -scale sanctions, but more needs to be done in the energy sector, including the oil sector,” he said, adding that he intends to meet with the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday to discuss next steps.
Earlier, Borrell said that since the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine, the European Union has paid Russia 35 billion euros for energy resources, while it has only provided one billion euros in aid to Ukraine.
