At the international donor conference in Warsaw, more than 9 billion euros were raised to help the victims of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. This was announced on Saturday, April 9, by the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
It was noted that the participants in the conference were international organizations, foreign governments and large foreign companies.
“Today we have raised 9.1 billion euros for people fleeing human aggression – both for those who remained in Ukraine and for those who went abroad. And there will be more! We will continue to provide support,” he said. he says. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
According to Reuters, 4.1 billion euros of this amount are non -refundable aid grants, which will mainly go to the Ukrainian budget. Another 5 billion euros will come in the form of loans and credits. Including the European Investment Bank allocates 4 billion euros for the settlement of Ukrainian refugees.
The conference focused on the issue of assistance to refugees. However, the EU guarantees that there will be a fundraiser for the infrastructural restoration of Ukraine.
“Once the bombings stop falling, we will help the people of Ukraine rebuild their country,” Ursula von der Leyen assured.
As part of the grant program, the EU will allocate 1 billion euros in addition to previous programs.
According to Ursula von der Leyen, six hundred million of them will go to Ukraine, mainly on the accounts of the Ukrainian authorities and partly to the UN. And 400 million euros will be sent to neighboring states of Ukraine helping incoming refugees.
Earlier, Ursula von der Leyen described the mechanism for Ukraine’s entry into the European Union.
