Bulgaria has suspended the issuance of tourist visas to Russians and visas to property owners for an indefinite period. This was reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).
The consulate explained the suspension of acceptance of documents by “an emergency that has developed,” writes ATOR. The Bulgarian authorities have not officially announced such a decision.
Earlier, on August 5, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared 14 employees of the diplomatic mission and consular offices of Bulgaria persona non grata.
After that, the Prime Minister of the technical government of the country, Gilib Donev, said that the work of the Bulgarian consulate in St. Petersburg was now called into question. He also added that the country’s government is looking for a way to solve this problem, Russian propaganda TASS writes, citing a Bulgarian TV channel.
At the end of June, the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to reduce the number of Russian employees of diplomatic missions in the country to 23 diplomats and 25 technical staff. At the same time, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry handed over to the Russian ambassador a list of 70 people who were ordered to leave the country by July 3.
Meanwhile, Acting Minister of Economy of Bulgaria Alexander Mikhailov said on August 4 that the country had handed over the last 4,200 tons of weapons since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
It is reported by “European truth” with reference to Nova.bg.
In the first four months from the beginning of the war – until June 30, permission was signed (by the former Ministry of Economy Kornelia) Nina for the export of Bulgarian weapons worth one billion, 16 million euros. During this four-month period, 4,200 tons of Bulgarian weapons were delivered to a Polish airport near the border with Ukraine, Mikhailov said at a press conference.
He added that he had documents to prove his words, but did not show them. In early June, the Bulgarian government reported that it had transferred arms to Ukraine for just over 100 million euros. It was transported to Ukraine through the Polish airport Rzeszow near the border.
