Law enforcement officers found out that a resident of the Lviv region organized the sale of vehicles brought to the country as humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian military.
Law enforcement officials of Lviv exposed an illegal scheme for importing vehicles under the guise of humanitarian aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported this on Thursday, August 4.
The organizer of the scam is a local resident. It was also attended by a recidivist who had previously been tried for fraud. Fraudsters, through charitable organizations, imported cars from other countries under the guise of humanitarian aid for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They were able to deliver 20 pickup trucks without customs clearance. The cars instead of being sent up front were sold for cash.
An attempt to import two cars on duty from the EU through a checkpoint in the Lviv region ended with the arrest of an assistant to the organizer of the criminal scheme. Police confiscated 17,400 US dollars and pickup trucks from the man.
The organizer of the scam is informed of a suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 201-2 of the UKU. Now he faces five to seven years in prison.
