The South Korean company replaced the phones for four countries. However, in Russia itself, their old name is still preserved on the official website.
Samsung has removed the letter Z from the names of smartphones. Rebranding took place in the Baltic countries and Ukraine. However, these changes have not yet affected Russia. NotebookCheck reported this on Wednesday, July 3.
The Galaxy Z Fold3 5G smartphone on Samsung’s official websites in Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania is now called the Galaxy Fold3 5G. The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has also undergone changes – it is also called the Galaxy Flip3 5G.
The initiative of the South Korean company may be related to the war in Ukraine, because the military of the aggressor countries marked their equipment with this letter, the newspaper notes. Moreover, in Russia there is a kind of cult of this sign. On the net, this symbol began to be called “zwastika”, by analogy with the Nazi swastika.
The official website of Samsung in Russia has not yet made the same changes to the names of the smartphones.
Recall that Samsung Electronics has allocated $ 6 million to the Red Cross Society of Ukraine to help the internally displaced population.
In addition, in the city of Kamensk-Uralsky in the Sverdlovsk region of the Russian Federation, on the monument to soldiers who died in Afghanistan and Chechnya, a Russian sketched the symbol Z, which became a symbol of Russia’s attack on Ukraine, and which is used by propaganda to support the war. He added three letters and got the word AZOV.
