A group of 12 countries considers the opportunity to make decisions with a qualified majority rather than united.
The European Union discusses a change in the decision -making rules in the block to miss the permanent veto Hungary. On Saturday, August 30, Bloomberg reported.
The publication identified the document distributed to EU member states on the eve of an informal meeting of foreign ministers.
It is noted that a group of 12 countries are considered legal opportunities for a decision of a qualified majority rather than united. Prior to this, in the EU, all decisions can only be made united.
According to Bloomberg, a change in voting strategy will allow the European Union to act faster, avoid blocking decisions.
Bloomberg remembers that Hungary continues to contradict Ukraine initiatives – from allocating funds to the country’s entry into the EU. This has led to fierce misunderstandings and negotiations aimed at encouraging it on issues such as continuing penalties against Russia.
In particular, on August 29, Hungary refused to sign a joint EU statement, condemning Russian blows to Ukraine this week.
Also, for a long time, 6.6 billion euros has been blocked by Hungary in the European Fund of the World by Hungary for military assistance in Ukraine.
Earlier, Hungarian prime minister Viktor Orban threatened the European Union that he would vote against the EU budget for 2028-2034, as there were 100 billion euros for Ukraine.
