Moscow has decided to impose counter-sanctions against a number of British politicians and journalists, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Russia has announced new countermeasures in response to UK sanctions over Russian military aggression against Ukraine. The ruling regime of the Russian Federation has decided to ban the entry of 39 British politicians, businessmen and journalists. This was stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
The Russian government says that the authorized Britons “contribute to the hostile course of London, which aims at the demonization (of Russia – ed.) and its international isolation.”
“As it has been emphasized more than once, the harmful actions of the UK in cultivating Russophobia, spreading false information about our country and supporting the Kyiv neo-Nazi regime will receive an adequate and decisive response from the side of Russia,” the statement said.
The list includes 12 journalists, producers and editors of British media, the head of the British-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce Beit Thoms, three British businessmen, a number of British MPs and officials and former Prime Minister David Cameron.
“Due to London’s destructive desire under far-fetched and absurd pretexts to turn the sanctions flywheel, the work on expanding Russia’s “stop list” will continue,” said the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Remember, in addition to coal, the fifth package of EU sanctions against Russia includes import bans, wood, chemicals, luxury goods. He also handled more than 200 individuals, several companies and banks.
In addition, on August 1, the EU embargo on the import of coal from Russia began.
