Only 11% are convinced that Ukraine and Russia should become friendly states without visas and customs.
The majority of Ukrainians (79%) believe that the borders with visas and customs should be closed between Ukraine and Russia. This is confirmed by the results of a sociological survey by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS), which was conducted on July 6-20.
Only 11% of respondents are in favor of the fact that Ukraine and Russia should be independent, but friendly states with open borders, and only 1% support unification into one state.
The press release of the study emphasizes that compared to the period before the full invasion of the Russian Federation (since February 2022), the share of those who believe that the borders between Ukraine and Russia should be closed has increased from 44% to 79%.
From 48% to 11%, the proportion of those who support “friendly” relations between countries decreased, and from 5% to 1% – those who support unity in one state.

In the context of the region, the majority (from 86% in the West to 70% in the East) believe that the borders with visas and customs should be closed between Ukraine and Russia.
In addition, in all regions, compared to February, the proportion of those in favor of closed borders increased significantly.
“If in February the majority in the South and East were in favor of “friendly” relations, now the majority believes that there should be visas and customs between Ukraine and Russia,” KIIS said.

Even among Russian-speaking Ukrainians, 52% favor closed borders, and only 3% argue that Ukraine and Russia should unite in one state.
Earlier it was reported that more than 80% of Ukrainians oppose any territorial concessions to the Russian Federation to end the war as soon as possible.
