The UN and the Red Cross have previously expressed their willingness to send experts to Yelenovka to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
Russia has agreed to invite experts from the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to the Ukrainian prisoner of war death camp in Yelenovka after Ukraine’s requests. About this Saturday, July 30, reports the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on its Telegram.
Russia’s law enforcement agency said it was doing so “in the interest of conducting an objective investigation into the attack on the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka.”
It is known that Kyiv had previously requested that Moscow allow representatives of these organizations to enter this facility. The Red Cross said they were trying to gain access to the burned prison to help with the evacuation and help the injured.
It should be noted that the UN and the Red Cross acted as guarantors of the protection of life and health of Ukrainian soldiers who surrendered.
Remember, the Russian Embassy in the UK said that the Ukrainian servicemen from the Azov Regiment “deserved a shameful death” – hanging. The message of the appeal was published on Twitter by the Russian embassy.
The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry then said there was no difference between Russian diplomats calling for the execution of Ukrainian prisoners of war and Russian soldiers doing so.
As reported, on July 29, the Russian invaders carried out a terrorist act in the Yelenovka prison, where they kept captured Ukrainian soldiers, including those from Azov. 53 people died and dozens more were injured.
