Observers recorded the explosions and saw smoke from the area near the Zaes, which, according to the station’s general director, was one of the auxiliary facilities.
In conquered Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant on Saturday, August 2, they heard explosions after which smoke was noticed. This is said by International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) director Rafael Grossy.
He noted that his team recorded the explosions and saw smoke from the nearby Zaes district, which, according to the station’s general director, was one of the auxiliary facilities to be fired today.
According to Zaes, the object was fired by artillery and attacked by drones from 9:00 in the morning – at the same time when the Magate team heard the sound of military operations.
The specified item is located 1200 meters from the perimeter of the station. In the afternoon, Magate representatives still saw smoke from this direction.
“Any attack near the nuclear electricity plant – whatever the expected purpose – creates potential risks both for nuclear safety and should be avoided. I call again for maximum military deterioration near nuclear facilities to prevent further risk of a nuclear accident,” the statement said.
The incident became compliant with a number of similar events in recent weeks and months, which, as the organization emphasized, indicated an increase in nuclear security risk to an armed conflict.
Remember that in the middle of -July, a strong smoke was detected near the zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. The work authorities reported a massive electric flow.
And on July 4, the blackout took place in the zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant because the Russians hit the power line connecting the nuclear power plant along with the Ukraine’s combined energy system.
