The ambassadors of the G7 countries and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Odessa on July 29 to note the importance of the signed “grain agreement” and Russia’s compliance with the points of this document.
The press service of Zelensky published a photo of the president and ambassadors from the port of Odessa.
We are ready to export Ukrainian grain. We are waiting for signals from our partners about the start of transportation. It is important for us to remain the guarantor of world food security. While someone, blocking the Black Sea, takes the lives of other states, we give them the opportunity to survive, the G7 ambassadors said in a statement.
The first ship with Ukrainian grain may go to sea from the port of Odessa region on July 29, said UN Deputy Secretary General Martin Griffiths.
My fellow G7 ambassadors and I are in Odessa with Turkey to re-emphasize the importance of the UN-brokered agreement allowing food to flow out of Ukraine. Russia must respect the agreements,” British Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons wrote on social media.
Zelensky in the port was pleased that “the port is working, the process has begun.”
Our side is fully prepared, we have handed it over to Turkey and the UN. As soon as they give a signal that they are ready to receive goods, and we will export, everything will begin, as President Zelensky said in the Black Sea port.
He believes that Ukraine is ready to start exporting food, and suggested that it will start “today or tomorrow.” Andrey Klimenko, editor-in-chief of the BlackSeaNews website, showed on July 28 what the grain corridor will look like:
1 – area for inspection of ships, acceptance and disembarkation of a pilot;
2 – the area where the convoy will be formed and disbanded.
The purple line is the maritime boundary (12-mile zone, territorial waters). The blue dot is Snake Island.
Recall that on July 23, the day after the signing of the grain “Initiative” with the mediation of the UN and Turkey, the Russians hit the port of Odessa.
