The head of the Ukraine Ministry of Defense Denis Shmygal discussed with his Latvian colleague that there were many cooperation issues between the countries.
Ukraine received the first batch of Patria 6×6 Armored Personnel Carriers from Latvia. In total, 42 such armored vehicles can be shipped. This was said by Ukraine’s defense minister Denis Shmygal on his telegram after talking to his Latvian colleague Andris Spruds.
The minister did not announce the number of armored staff carriers received in the first batch, but thanked Latvia for her contribution to boosting Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
According to him, they discussed the needs of the Ukrainian military and joint manufacture of drones for Ukraine.
“We agreed with the following steps of cooperation. Among them-to activate our conversation with the North Baltic eight countries,” Shmygal sank.
The Patria 6×6 Armored Personnel Carrier was developed in Finland, and its serial production was established in Latvia, where the collaboration of Defense Latvia has operated since 2024.
The power of the plant gives you to make up to 160 units of this equipment annually. Patria 6×6 is in service with the Armed Forces of Finland, Sweden and Latvia.
The machine is intended primarily for staff transportation, but may adapt to other tasks. Depending on the adjustment, it can be used in the Patria 6×6 machine gun, 25/30 mm battle modules or a 120-mm mortar system Patria Nemo.
The maximum speed of an armored carrier staff is up to 100 km/h. The total mass is about 24 tons.
Remember that the Latvian side on July 15 said the first batch of an armored carrier staff arrived in Ukraine, the next road. In total, Latvia will move to Ukraine 42 units of such and other equipment with a total amount of about 70 million euros.
