The nationalization of Russia’s property will make it possible to partially compensate for the damage caused by Ukraine, the Prime Minister said.
Ukraine plans to nationalize all Russian assets located in Ukraine – to partially compensate losses from the Russian invasion. Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said this in the telethon.
Shmyhal said a related law has already been enacted.
“There are some businesses in Ukraine that belong to Russia. Of course, the law on nationalization has been adopted. We started these processes to compensate some of the losses caused to us by the Russian Federation at the expense of these revenues,” said the prime minister.
In addition, Ukraine expects to receive funds from Russian assets frozen abroad.
Representatives of the people approved a law defining the procedure for the nationalization of property owned by Russian citizens and Ukrainians who openly reject or support the Russian-Ukrainian war. Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the nationalization of assets of Russian companies, legal entities and individuals.
