Two agencies will work under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, one of which is the Defense Procurement Agency.
Under the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, two agencies similar to NSPA will work: one – the “Defense Procurement Agency” – will deal with all matters related to weapons, the second will be logistical matters – purchase of ammunition, fuel, food, logistics, etc. according to clearly Western standards. This was announced on Thursday, July 28, by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov in an interview with LB.ua.
According to the minister, the Defense Procurement Agency will work on the model of the NATO logistics organization NSPA (NATO Support and Procurement Agency) to make arms purchases for Ukraine transparent and make corruption impossible.
“It is a transparent mechanism, understandable for our partners, for businesses, for manufacturers. It is a kind of Amazon, only with military goods,” explained the minister.
The head of the Ministry of Defense noted that the work on the creation of the Agency began at the end of January and should end in March. But due to the full invasion of Russia, the completion of the procedures was delayed.
Reznikov noted that a few weeks ago the Agency was officially registered, after which the deployment of its work will begin.
“So, we are de facto joining NATO, which I have repeatedly mentioned,” Reznikov said.
The Minister added that the work of the Defense Procurement Agency will be able to supervise and, if necessary, participate in the audit of the Defense Reform Advisory Board, the highest level of the international advisory group, which includes representatives of member countries of NATO.
Remember, Poland and Lithuania said they are ready to make efforts to start negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to NATO.
