The military of the Russian Federation does not free people from the temporarily occupied territories and wants to use them as human shields.
The troops of the Russian Federation assembled about 80 pieces of equipment in the direction of Kherson. This was announced by the mayor of Melitopol Ivan Fedorov.
“The invaders are moving heavy military equipment. Three columns passed through Melitopol in the direction of Kherson – about 80 pieces of equipment,” he said.
According to Fedorov, the Russian military does not release people from temporarily occupied territories and wants to use them as human shields.
“There are more than five thousand people at the checkpoint on Vasilievka. To get to the store, you have to leave your documents. People are being held like a human shield,” said the mayor.
As Fedorov noted, the invaders threatened the residents of Melitopol that, in case of retreat, they would blow up the infrastructure and burn houses.
“They are afraid of the offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Yesterday a Russian KamAZ ran into a passenger car, a family with a child died,” said Fedorov.
Earlier, the Institute for the Study of War ISW reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are launching a counter-offensive in the Kherson region.
It was also reported that the Russian occupiers of Kherson began to build a crossing under the Antonovsky bridge, which would serve as a cover.
