President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky appointed the new commander of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces.
This position was obtained by Gennady Shapovalov, who was previously the commander of the operational command of the south. He left him in February 2025. In March 2022, Shapovalov received the title of Brigade General. This is indicated in Decree No. 412, according to the website of the head of state.
Shapovalov graduated from the Institute of Tank Troops at the State Polytechnic University of the Kharkiv State, and then the Commander-in-Chief and Personnel of the Institute for the use of troops (troops) of the National University of Defense of Ukraine. He also received education at the National University of the Academy of Ostokh and graduated from the US Army College.
We will recall that on June 1, Major General Michael Drapati resigned from the post of commander of the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces.
