The Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan and Great Britain in London has signed a plan for military cooperation for 2025-2026. This was reported by the Press Service of the Defense Department of Kazakhstan.
One of the major areas of cooperation is the training of Kazakhstan military personnel in British educational institutions higher military. In addition, the plan covers training in the field of peacekeeping and English study operations.
In April 2024, foreign ministers of Kazakhstan and Great Britain signed an agreement with Strategic Partnership and Cooperation. The British Foreign Ministry leader announced the allocation of 50 million pounds for the implementation of various projects in Central Asia for three years. According to him, this initiative aims to support economic resilience, trade development and regional relationships with the region.
By the end of May, it became known about the start of the construction of a new plant for the manufacture of ammunition artillery in Kazakhstan. The company will work, in particular, 155 mm caliber shells in accordance with NATO standards. The creation of such production should reduce the country’s hope for weapons imports, especially considering the growth of the region’s increasing unevenness and interruptions in global supply chains.
The President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev then said the country does not plan to join the Brix and will prevent himself from the status of a partner. According to him, such a decision was dictated by the pragmatic considerations, as the organization itself was “without a charter, or a secretary, or programs.”
