Iran was first mentioned in countries conducting intelligence activities in Finland. Earlier, only Russia and China were mentioned publicly in such states.

The Finnish Security Police (SUPO) for the first time has officially recognized Iran with a leading spy activity in the country. In addition, intelligence believes that Tehran can use criminal groups to influence Finland and not exclude the growth of threats throughout northern Europe. This is stated in an email supo sent by broadcaster Yle.

According to Intelligence, Iran is first mentioned in countries conducting intelligence activities in Finland. Earlier, only Russia and China were mentioned publicly in such states.

SUPO representatives also reported that in addition to the listed three countries, some other states were in charge for Finland.

Usually, such actions include refugee monitoring. As mentioned in Supo, this is a common practice for authority regimes, directed against political opponents or representatives of other groups, which the government considers a threat.

“The goal is to get information about these people with different methods. Especially, a personal interview is used,” the intelligence explained.

In addition, according to Supo, spy -related relatives left in the country of origin can take pressure to produce critical voices abroad to lock.

Finnish intelligence also said Iran could cause additional security threats to the country. In particular, it is possible to use Tehran of mediators – organized criminal groups – to perform actions in Finland.

Intelligence did not provide clarifications about specific actions in which such mediators could involve. However, he noted that in Europe in recent years, many attempts have been disclosed by attacks related to Iran’s state structures.

“The threat has also increased in northern European countries,” they warned Supo.

In intelligence, Iran’s aggressive action is believed to be the result of a breakdown in relations with western countries.

Earlier, Swedish authorities also warned that Iran could use criminal networks for attacks on some groups of people, individual or even state structures.

According to Supo, the use of mediators, including actions of intelligence or sabotage, has become a noticeable pace. This method allows states to masqueize their involvement in harmful activity.

Earlier in the Stockholm area, Swedish special services were confined to their face with the suspicion of spy.

Also, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office of Germany will charge three men suspected of spying in favor of Russia.
