President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a meeting on preparations for an exchange in the 1,000 per 1000 format.
The organization of the process is controlled by the Minister of Defense of Rastima Umarov. This included intelligence, security service of Ukraine, the Ministry of the Interior, the Ombudsman for Human Rights, the Presidential Office Team. Ukraine will find out the details for each person who was presented in the lists from the Russian side. The head of state announced this on May 22 on Telegram.
He held a meeting on the preparation of the exchange. The agreement on the release of 1000 of our people from Russian captivity was perhaps the only real result of a meeting in Turkey. We work for this result to be provided – the message is read.
The president emphasized that the return of Ukrainians from Russian captivity is a key task.
We recall that on May 16, during the negotiations of Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul, delegations agreed with the exchange of prisoners of war in the “thousands per thousand” format.
SBU is already forming a list of Russian soldiers held in Ukrainian captivity, and can be transferred to the country of the aggressor. The corresponding infrastructure, places and medical personnel are also prepared for the reception, maintenance and rehabilitation of our military.
