As a result of this hybrid attack, Lithuania has experienced significant financial, institutional and operational difficulties, which will be evaluated as losses.
Lithuania filed a lawsuit against Belarus at the UN International Court in Hague. The country has accused Alexander Lukashenko’s regime with consciousness -Are creation of a transfer crisis that violates international law. It was reported by the Foreign Ministry of Lithuania, informing the Broadcaster LRT on Monday, May 19.
The lawsuit applies to violations of the UN protocol against illegal transportation of migrants. Vilnius emphasizes: Since 2021, Lithuania has faced an unprecedented flow of illegal migrants from Belarus territory, which, according to evidence, has repaired the Belarus regime.
In particular, Belarus state businesses increased the number of flights from the Middle East countries, which contributed to the release of visas and the placement of migrants. They were accompanied by Belarus security forces on the Lithuanian border and forced them to crossed it illegally, often in life conditions.
Despite repeated requests of the Lithuanian institutions, the Belarusian side refused to cooperate to stop these violations. In Vilnius, it is considered an attempt to force Lithuania and the EU for the support of Belarus democracy and punishment against the Lukashenko regime.
The Lithuanian Foreign Ministry said bilateral negotiations did not produce results, so the country has conducted international justice. Lithuania requires full compensation for injury, including border construction, and guarantees that violations are not repeated.
According to the border service, 23.6 thousand illegal immigrants have not been allowed in Lithuania since the beginning of the crisis.
Justice Minister Rimantas Maskus called the lawsuit in the history and evidence of the Lithuanian leadership in protecting the interests of not only his country, but the EU as well. According to him, not a single state has the right to use people as an instrument of political blackmail without consequences.
Remember that Lithuania plans to allocate 1.1 billion euros to strengthen the boundaries with Belarus and Russia. This should implement the project in ten years.
Lithuania did not miss more than 30 migrants from Belarus throughout the border
