The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky first agreed with the newly elected President Romania Nikushor Dan. It was reported to the Ukrainian leader on Telegram on Monday, May 19.
“I congratulate the victory in the president’s election. It is very important that Romania develop and we all work together in our region and Europe,” said the head of the state.
Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine respected Romania and the choice of Roman citizens.
“This is a country where much depends on security issues. We are grateful for its contribution to the lives of our people. It is important that Ukraine’s support will continue. Romania understands how important the struggle is for freedom and justice,” the President emphasized.

As you know, Romania CEC processes 100% of the second -time ballots of the President’s election. The Pro -Western candidate, the current mayor of Bucharest, won with 53.6% of the vote. His rival, the head of the Nationalist Party, the Alliance for the Unification of the Romanians (AUR) George Simion gained 46.70% of the vote and recognized his defeat.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin was called the “strange” election in Romania. At the same time, Bucharest announced Russia’s intervention in the election.
