Following a meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epizootic Commission, a quarantine was declared and a 7-kilometer surveillance zone was determined.
In the river Medvedevskaya in the Sumy region found the corpse of a pig infected with the African plague. This was reported on Thursday, July 21, on the Krolevets City Council Facebook page.
“A resident of the village of Zazorki on the Medvedevskaya River, Litvinovitsky Starostinsky District, discovered the corpse of a pig and informed the State Consumer Service in the Sumy Region. The relevant service selected materials for examination that confirmed the diagnosis of the African plague,” the report said.
As indicated, following a meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epizootic Commission, quarantine was declared and a 7-kilometer surveillance zone was determined.
“From the epizootic cell of the village of Novoselytsia, the village of Vorgol of the Litvinovitsky Starostinsky District, the village of Yaroslavets of the Yaroslavets Starostinsky District, the hunting ground of the Krolevetsky District Council of the UOOR, the State Enterprise Krolevetsky Agroles,” the Council specified.
In addition, the authorities have taken strict measures to control the import of pork meat, in particular, they will check the presence of relevant documents at checkpoints.
It will be remembered that in April last year in Bukovina an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded in the farm. Because of this, 21 thousand animals had to be destroyed.
Shortly thereafter, Ukraine banned the import of pigs and some of their products from the European Union due to the spread of ASF in its territory.
