Ukraine’s foreign minister turned to Brazil with a request to advance negotiations between Zelensky and Putin.
Ukraine has called on Brazil to support the initiative about a 30-day stop and to help arrange a direct meeting of President Vladimir Zelensky and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. This was announced by foreign minister Andrei Samiba on Social Network X on Tuesday, May 13.
The minister said this week has a conversation with Brazil colleague Mauro Viyira. The parties discussed peaceful efforts to end the war in Ukraine and active diplomatic contacts.
“I called on Brazil to support an unconditional 30 -day ceasefire as a basis for productive peace negotiations,” the foreign minister said.
Samiba also turned to Brazil with an appeal to take advantage of his authority in Russia to the meeting of Zelensky and Putin in Istanbul this week.
“I confirmed the president of Zelensky to meet with Putin in Turkey and called on Brazil to use his respectable voice in communicating with Russia to contribute to this direct meeting at the highest level,” the minister emphasized.
Remember that Putin suggested direct negotiations with Ukraine in Turkey on Thursday, May 15, but said nothing about the ceasefire. In response, Zelensky said he would personally wait for Putin in Turkey.
