Against the background of negotiations: The United States has strengthened sanctions against Iran

Washington announced new penalties against oil from Iran. The goal is to reduce Iran oil export to zero.

The United States has imposed new penalties aimed at exporting oil from Iran, including independent Chinese oil refinery, known as “Kettle”. On Wednesday, April 16, Reuters reported.

It was noted that the penalties were introduced as part of a new pressure wave from the supervision of President Donald Trump in Tehran.

In the oil industry, the word “kettle” indicates small independent oil refineries.

The US Finance Department reports that these steps aim to increase pressure on Iran’s oil imports, as part of Trump’s attempt to restore the highest pressure campaign, in particular, to reduce Iran’s oil exports to zero.

These penalties were imposed against the backs of negotiations between the United States and Iran under the nuclear program. The first meeting took place last week in Oman, the second is expected this weekend in Rome.

The Ministry of Finance has announced that one of the independent Chinese refineries, accused of buying Iran’s oil of more than $ 1 billion, has fallen under penalties. This is the second similar plant in China, where the Trump administration is running.

Earlier, the United States did not focus on such businesses because of their limited reliance on the American financial system. Meanwhile, PRC’s oil and gas companies have stopped buying Iran’s oil, which is afraid of penalties.

Penalties also apply to some companies and ships, which, according to the United States, are included in Iran’s “Shadow Fleet” and China’s transportation oil.

The Chinese Embassy’s representative in Washington Li Penyuy said China would “take the necessary measures to protect legal rights and interests” and encouraged the United States to end the “unreasonable persecution” of Chinese and people’s companies.

Remember last Saturday the United States and Iran conducted negotiations with Oman. Both sides described the meeting as “positive” and “constructive”. According to the resource familiar with the process, the second negotiations of negotiations have been planned for Saturday, perhaps in Rome.
