Reactors are a major owner of Bulgaria and an element of its freedom of energy, which is explained to the country’s government.
Bulgaria will not sell the corps of two VVER-1000 reactors in Ukraine, according to which negotiations have previously been carried out. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister of Bulgaria andan Zafirov, informed the BTA on Tuesday, April 15.
According to him, after negotiating with the joint management council partners and the head of the Gerb Party, Boyko Borisov, the parties agreed with a joint decision.
“We have jointly defended this very important strategic solution,” Zafirov emphasized, adding that reactors are a major owner of Bulgaria and an element of its freedom of energy.
In 2023, Bulgaria initiated negotiations in Ukraine with the possible sale of Belen NPP equipment. Ukraine plans to use Russian reactors to expand the khmelnitsky nuclear power plant.
Earlier, Zelensky said this potential power units cover Ukraine’s needs, which are currently covered by imports. Because it is more than 2 gigavt electricity. It will also help to prevent the increase in electricity prices for the population. At the same time, Zelensky argues that those who criticize the purchase of equipment in Russia are not harmful cheap energy for Ukraine.
Remember, on February 11, Verkhovna Rada allowed Energoatom to buy reactor units in Bulgaria for the completion of two power units of Khmelnitsky nuclear power plant. After that, Zelensky signed the law.
The Power Unit No. 3 of the Khmelnitsky Nuclear Power Plant is 75%ready, and Block No. 4 – by 25%. Energoatom believes it is possible to complete them for three and five years, respectively.
