Frederick Mertz supports Ukraine’s climb to the EU and NATO, but he believes the war should end first.

German future Chancellor Friedrich Mertz supports the hope of Ukraine’s climb to the EU and NATO, but he believes it is possible only after the war. The German magazine reported it Spiegel.

“The country, in the war, cannot be a member of the NATO or the European Union,” the future Chancellor believes.

He emphasized that the promise to join the European Union and the hope of joining NATO was valid.

“But in order for both these events to take place, the war must end first,” he explained his perspective.

Keep in mind that Germany has yet to provide Ukraine with more Patriot systems, however, along with allies, it is actively looking for air defense systems around the world – due to KYIV’s intense needs in the defense of Russian attacks.
