“All yesterday, the transport department inspectors reviewed the ship and recorded many serious violations, as we could not allow the medium to proceed with the movement – either the safety of shipping or environmental safety was ensured,” said Christian Truu, director of the Marine Service Department of Transport.
It is indicated that in 40 recognized violations, 29 were serious and became the basis for preventing the vessel. Most of them, especially the 23 violations, the documentation concerns, the rest – systems to ensure transmission safety, preparation of crew for emergency situations, as well as technical mistakes.
“One of the serious problems is also suspicion that the vessel has no state flag, which means it does not apply to the area of a country. Estonia, within the framework of rights and international obligations, has conducted a container without flag,” Truu explained.
It is known that the ship is currently in muusy under the protection of Naval forces. After removing both documentary and technical violations and re -verification, the Transport Department will issue a permit to resume the track to the tanker.
