This opinion was expressed by the chairman of Verkhovna Radov Ruslan Stefanchuk in the program “There is a conversation” on the YouTube Ukraine channel.
He also recalled that in 2019, Volodymyr Zelenskyy introduced one of the first bills on amendments to the Constitution to reduce, but then the Constitutional Court gave a negative conclusion on it.
But I am deeply convinced that the problem of reducing the number of deputy people will undoubtedly arise in Ukrainian society, ”said Stefanchuk.
The chairman of Verkhovna Rada explained that the reduction in the number of deputy people may be due to the fact that the population of Ukraine has objectively decreased, “and this is reflected in the number of persons who should be represented in one legislative body.”
When there was 52 million, this is one thing, and today, when people are much less, of course, the question of representation in society should be revised. I think that the number 300 is what you can talk about, and this should be a guide for further processes, ”said Verkhovna Rada.
