Fredericksen turned to the United States in English, saying that Washington could not add another country, even with security arguments.
Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Fredericksen urged the United States to strengthen cooperation with the Arctic security objects, but declined Washington’s idea of the possible fusion of the island. He said this at a press conference on Thursday, April 3, during a visit to Greenland, reports Radio Liberty.
“I want to take this opportunity to send a message directly to the United States of America. It’s not just about Greenland or Denmark, we’re talking about an argument -following the world we have built on the other side of the Atlantic for many generations. You can’t add another country, even with a security argument,” he emphasized.
His statement was heard shortly after the Marco Rubio State Secretary of State and Foreign Minister Denmark Lars Locke Rasmussen in the field of NATO Summit in Brussels.
According to Rasmussen, Rubio recognized Greenland’s right to self -determination. The United States Department of State also confirmed the “strong relationship” between Washington and Copenhagen.
Remember, Trump repeatedly declared his desire to add to Greenland. On Sunday, he repeated it, added that it would happen 100%. However, he did not exclude the use of military force.
Later, the media reported that Denmark and the United States would do negotiations in Greenland.
