According to the website, the ‘wrapped’ remake live-action would have been suspended indefinitely by Disney, and has its future uncertain. Understand!
Since its confirmation, the “wrapped” remake live-action has been extremely expected by fans. However, according to new information obtained by The Hollywood Reporter (via omelette), production should not be released anytime soon.
This is because internal sources of the studio told the vehicle that the production of the film was paused by Disney, noting that this is not a cancellation, but without guarantees about its future. Without much information, so far, all that was known about the feature is that it would be directed by Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman), and Jennifer Kaytin Robinson (Thor: Love and Thunder).
The cast, however, remained a mystery. Rumors pointed out that Kathryn Hahn (Agatha forever) would be the studio’s favorite name to live Mother Gothel, the plot villain. On the other hand, Zachary Levi (Shazam!) It showed interest in living Flynn Rider during an interview, but also raised questions about the age difference between the character and the actor.
“I would love it … But Rapunzel is 17 years old, 18. And I don’t know … Not that I wasn’t young for some other roles, but I don’t know,” said the actor in 2023 during a fan meeting in Chicago.
Already about the actress who could live the protagonist Rapunzel, a series of names were considered by fans. Among them, we have: Florence Pugh (Black widow), Amanda Seyfried (Mamma Mia!), Dove Cameron (Descendants), Maitreyi Ramakrishnan (I never…), Sabrina Carpenter (Crush to height) and McKenna Grace (Me, Tonya). However, no name was quoted or confirmed by Disney.
Despite the reason behind the suspension was not revealed, the site points out that the break takes place after the poor performance of the “Snow White” live-action at the international box office. With a budget of $ 270 million, the remake only raised about $ 145 million internationally.
So far, Disney has not yet commented on the suspension of the project.
