The famous Democrat broke the record of the longest speech in the history of the US Senate after he spoke for more than 25 hours without a break in the toilet.
On Monday, Barry Bucher from New Jersey at 19:00 (14.00 in Kyiv) made a Senate to make a marathon speech in protest against President Donald Trump’s policy.
The senator used his long attractiveness to impress the President of the United States, saying that the threats of American democracy were “serious and urgent”.
The legislator stopped only when colleagues asked questions. In his long -term speech, he focused on how the actions of the new administration threaten democracy, reputation and the main values on which America was built.
During the day, Buir spent on his feet, he did not eat and did not go to the toilet. About half an hour before the end of the speech, he delicately said that he was going to “cope with some biological needs.”
At the end of his speech, he thanked the Senate employees, who was present in the meeting room in a day. The Booker’s performance began at 19.00 on Monday and ended 20.05 on Tuesday.
The previous record for the longest speech belonged to the Senator-Democrat from Southern Carolina Stroma Termond, who in 1957 spoke in 24 hours and 18 minutes against the law on civil rights.
