The politician called on the opposition’s forces to “postpone political disagreements” and unite for the appointment of new elections and the release of political prisoners.
The fifth president of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili announced the unity of opposition forces on the “resistance platform”. He made such a statement during a speech at an anti -government rally in Tbilisi on Monday, March 31, reported Echo Caucasus.
He explained the need for this step by the need for a “political format”, which would agree with street protests.
According to Zurabishvili, the platform is open to all pro -european parties and groups ready to “set aside political disagreements” and support the two basic requirements of the protests: the appointment of new elections and the release of political prisoners.
However, the part of the opposition to attend the rally criticized Zurabishvili. He is demanding from his apology for his previous assessments of the August War, when he openly accused Mikhail Saakashvili.
The Tbilisi rally ended with the use of pyrotechnics to the Parliament building, but police did not apply any steps against activists.
Keep in mind that the situation in Georgia worsens on November 28, 2024, when the government decides to postpone Georgia’s negotiations with the EU to 2028. This has led to protests.
On December 14, the President’s election was held in Georgia. Election Board Mikhail Kaveashvili chose as president. Salome Zurabishvili did not recognize the results of the election.
The European Parliament identified Zurabishvili with a legitimate President of Georgia
