Negotiations on the coalition between CDU and SPD on Bürgergeld are ongoing, but there are already some agreements, Frankfurter Rundschau reports. According to the results of the work group “Labor and Social Problems”, it is planned to strengthen sanctions.
People who can work and repeatedly refuse to work will be completely deprived of assistance, ”says the document that is in IPEN.MEDIA. Sanctions should be introduced faster, easier and with a smaller bureaucracy, – explained in the working group.
At the same time, it is planned to take into account the “special position of people with mental illness.”
It is expected that strengthening the requirements for the recipients of social assistance will be an addition to support measures that provide advanced training and further training of the unemployed.
Nevertheless, there is a restriction on the full cancellation of basic social assistance. In 2019, judges of the Federal Constitutional Court ruled that sanctions exceeding 30%were incompatible with a fundamental right to decent accommodation.
