The Russians control the captured territories of Ukrainian, but they cannot accept their recognition through the international community.
The biggest obstacle to settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian War will be a territorial issue. This is said by a special US president’s representative in Ukraine Keith Kellog in the air of Fox News.
He noted that it was necessary to distinguish between actual and legal control over the territories seized by Russia: Moscow did not plan to abandon the regional regions, but their legal status as part of the Russian Federation could not be recognized by the international community.
“I think we need to get what might be called technical tasks. What do the Ukrainians want? What do the Russians want? So it is worth reducing these positions and finding a choice that can satisfy both sides. But, of course, none of them will receive everything that is striving,” Kellogue said.
He emphasized that the most difficult topic of negotiations is the territory, as their control remains mixed.
“If you look at the situation, the Russians completely control the Luhansk region (in fact – no – Ed.), But they have no complete control over other regions – Donetsk, Zaporizhzhya and Kherson. The question arises: What does this situation look like? It doesn’t mean the international community recognizes this Russian territory,” Kellogs explained.
He added that these complex discussions have not been conducted.
Remember that the special department of President Steve Vitkoff of the United States recently said the Russians “returned” five regions and did not understand “why they are still one thing.” And now, according to him, the main question is that Ukraine’s dedication to the issue of territorial abandonment.
