The Japanese Agency for International Cooperation (JICA) will consider the possibility of financing these programs in the field of energy and infrastructure in Ukraine, which previously cared about the US International Development (USAID).
This was indicated in Ukraine-Japanese forum organized by the center of New Europe, the head of the Ukrainian office Jica Jica Hidki Matsunaga, reports Ukrinform.
According to him, the USAID and Jica approaches are slightly different, so it will not be easy to choose certain programs implemented by USAID, in particular in the legal sphere, as well as to finance civil society.
But we would like to see what gaps occurred in the energy sector, and tried as much as possible to fill them. Of course, we have some budget restrictions, but we would like to do more, ”he said. – Of course, we must seriously think about the energy industry and infrastructure, and we will consider these industries.
We will recall that on January 20, US President Donald Trump signed the suspension of the decision for 90 days of all external assistance programs. On January 26, it became known that the USAID management in Ukraine was ordered to suspend funding for all projects.
