Sanctions should have a greater impact on Russia than the countries that impose them, Petr Fiala insisted.
The seventh package of anti-Russian sanctions, being prepared by the European Union, will not include a ban on gas from the Russian Federation. This was stated by Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala in a Reuters comment published on Wednesday, July 13th.

According to the Czech leader, the European Commission should present a new package of sanctions in the coming days. This could include a ban on gold imports and an expanded list of dual-use goods banned from export to Russia, as well as a list of new sanctioned entities.
“The specific problem is the inclusion of energy in the sanctions, because the rule must be respected that the sanctions should have a greater impact on Russia than the countries imposing sanctions. I think that gas is not should be there, because a number of countries depend on Russia’s gas, ”Fiala said.
At the same time, he noted that even if the EU countries, especially the Czech Republic, are doing everything possible to undermine such hope, it will not happen this winter.
Finally, the prime minister announced that on July 26 EU energy ministers will discuss the current situation, including the option of joint gas purchases from Europe.
Recall that the other day, the Hungarian authorities were definitely against the imposition of an embargo on Russia’s gas supplies.
