Two people died and several were seriously injured Tuesday when a small boat with more than a dozen crew members capsized in New York’s Hudson River. New Yorkfacing the tourist area in the middle of Manhattan Island.
The dead are a 7-year-old boy and a 50-year-old woman who were rescued by emergency divers after being trapped under an overturned boat, authorities said at a press conference.
Three people, including the captain of the ship, were hospitalized in serious condition, eight more were hospitalized as sick, but they are not in danger.
According to initial reports released by police, the boat was rented by a group of family and friends, with the owner following them nearby on a jet ski.

Around 14:45 local time (1845 GMT) and for reasons that are being investigated, the boat capsized in the river near the Intrepid Museum in New Yorkknown as a huge ship anchored in the tourist area on the west side of Manhattan.
Police officer, Kichant Seawellassured that the tragedy “could have been much worse” if not for the quick response of two local transport ferries between the docks, which came to the aid of the crew and rescued nine of them.
mayor New YorkEric Adams, who congratulated the ambulance crew, lamented the death and reminded that water “can be a dangerous place”, so he asked those who participate in water activities in city rivers or on beaches this summer to be careful.
