Ground Forces Commander Michael Drapatia was sent to control the operational strategic group of troops Hortitsa.
At the same time, he will retain his powers as commander of the ground forces, the largest part of the armed forces.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this in an evening address on January 26:
Today he instructed the strengthening of the command of our troops in the Donetsk region – Major General Michael Drapatya was sent to manage the operational strategic group of troops of Hortits. These are the most brutal areas of struggle.
Publick Deep State commented on this goal as follows:
A very important and necessary replacement, given the catastrophic problems that have accumulated in the area of responsibility of the “hortyzia” both on the battle line and in the media space with advance control. It is very important to correct all this, so General Michael Drapati has a huge amount of work that we wish him, patience and inspiration. The newly appointed commander has great respect and a positive reputation among the fighters, as well as the ability to solve problems and stabilize the situation in problem areas. We hope he can do this in a new location.
At the same time, Michael Dreytty will retain his powers as commander of the land forces.
In addition, Major General Andria Gnatov became deputy chief of the general staff.
Its task is a new level of training for the operational headquarters and a higher quality of interaction between staff and the front, said Volodymyr Zelensky.
Khnatov has commanded the United Armed Forces since June 2024 – then he was appointed to this position instead of Yuri Sodol.
