The Spanish-language pages of the US presidential administration on social networks were also removed.
After the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, the new administration shut down the Spanish-language version of the White House’s official website. This was reported by AP on Wednesday, January 22.
The Spanish version of the site gives users a message Error 404. The page also contains the usual Go home button, which takes you to the main page of the White House website.
The White House’s Spanish profile on social media X and the government’s reproductive freedom page were also removed. At the same time, Spanish-language versions of resources from other US government agencies, such as the Departments of Labor, Justice, and Agriculture, remained available to users.
White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Harrison Fields said the administration is “committed to restoring the online portion of the website with a Spanish translation.”
Trump had already removed the Spanish version of the page when he began his presidency in 2017. Then White House representatives also said they would restore it. However, it was only in 2021 that the page of then US President Joe Biden was restored.
Remember that after his inauguration, Trump ordered a ban on granting asylum to people who have just arrived at the southern border and an end to granting birthright citizenship to the children of illegal immigrants.
