Details of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in Istanbul in 2022 were revealed by President Vladimir Zelensky.
During these negotiations, the aggressor country gave Kyiv an ultimatum in which it demanded that Ukraine be led by pro-Russian deputy Viktor Medvedchuk. In addition to changing the president, Moscow also demanded that the entire Donbass come under Russian control, and Ukraine must recognize this by changing its Constitution. The head of state stated this during an interview with representatives of the International Media Council.
Also, according to Zelensky, Russia demanded that Ukraine reduce the number of Ukrainian Armed Forces to 50 thousand fighters. The Verkhovna Rada should have adopted a law on the neutral status of the country, and established the Russian language at the state level. Russia also demanded the destruction of all long-range weapons with a range of more than 20 km.
Belarus wanted to organize something, but they again put forward an ultimatum. Then they wanted to organize something in Turkey and President Erdogan asked me to agree. They came and again issued an ultimatum. Therefore, we cannot say that we had any negotiations, since all three times there were ultimatums from Putin, the president added.
As you know, negotiations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation in Istanbul began on February 28, 2022.
Let us remember that in Davos, President Vladimir Zelensky said that Ukraine will not legally renounce its territories, which are now under the control of Russia. This will not happen, even if all the allies of the world ask Kyiv about it.
