By Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 49 of January 17, 2025 “On the renaming of certain geographical objects”, 22 geographical objects were renamed in temporarily occupied Crimea, most of which returned their historical Crimean Tatar names.
This was reported today, January 21, on the website of the representative office of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.
It is noted that the representative office decided to join the work on the project together with the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance and the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
The renaming took place within the framework of the Law of Ukraine “On the condemnation and prohibition of propaganda of Russian imperial policy in Ukraine and the decolonization of toponymy.” In total, this decree renamed more than a hundred geographical objects throughout Ukraine, the department notes.
Thus, in Crimea the decree renamed:
- Aurorovka tract on the Bashbek tract;
- Artemovka beam to Toka beam;
- Bagrationovo tract on the Konrat tract;
- Vorontsovka River to the Kuchuk-Chatyrlik River;
- Kirovskoye railway station to Islyam-Terek railway station;
