“Based on the materials of the NABU pre-trial investigation, the SAPO prosecutor sent an indictment to the court on charges against the prosecutor of the Office of the Prosecutor General, who in July 2024 was exposed for receiving $170,000 in improper benefits for making a decision to close the criminal proceedings and remove the confiscation of property in the message.

The complaint was sent to HACS for consideration on the merits.

The sanction of the incriminated article provides punishment in the form of imprisonment for eight to twelve years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property -property.

Let’s recall that on July 16, 2024, law enforcement officials reported that two prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General were exposed for taking bribes. One of them was imprisoned at his workplace. The investigation found that prosecutors received $170,000 in exchange for a promise to close criminal proceedings and to forfeit assets seized as part of these proceedings.
