Two residents of the Kiev region, a man and a woman, who were planning to kill the official in the near future, were detained.
As the UP writes, an assassination attempt was being prepared on the life of First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health Sergei Dubrov.
According to the investigation, in October 2024, a woman died in one of the capital’s hospitals as a result of severe injuries received during an accident. The first deputy minister, who is an anesthesiologist, was on duty at the medical institution that day. Despite serious injuries as a result of the accident, the woman’s friends believed that the doctor was to blame for her death, so they decided to kill him, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
For several months, they monitored the daily routine and movements of a potential victim, rented an apartment in the same residential complex, and constantly changed vehicles to remain undetected.
To eliminate an official with a pistol, they went to a private shooting range for a long time and practiced their shooting skills.
Then they found a weapons seller on the black market – and were detained while transferring money for a pistol, which was supposed to become a murder weapon.
